A total of eight stadiums will host matches throughout the World Cup in Qatar. Given that this is the first time that the country will host a major international tournament, all the stadiums were built anew and will be used on the global scene for the first time. Al Thumama Stadium
Al Thumama Stadium has a capacity of around 40,000 spectators, which like all other venues will be reduced to less than half after the World Cup. Its construction began in the early months of 2017. The Al Thumama Stadium was inaugurated in October, 2021, when it hosted the final of the Emir Cup. A total of six FIFA Arab Cup 2021 games were held at the stadium.
Fixtures to be held at Al Thumama Stadium
Al Thumama Stadium will host a total of eight matches during the FIFA World Cup 2022. The first of these will be the eagerly awaited Group A encounter between the Netherlands and Senegal on the second day. The stadium is also scheduled to host two knockout games; A round of 16 fixture and a quarter-final.
