We still don’t know who will be the USMNT’s starting goalkeeper at this World Cup, but Johnson is definitely high on Berhalter’s list. The 33-year-old came off huge this MLS season for New York FC, posting 14 clean sheets (second best in the league). He too was clutch during the playoffsAlthough his team eventually lost in the semi-finals.
Johnson is the 2021 MLS Cup winner and MVP for NYC, and has kept five clean sheets in 10 caps with the national team. In those 10 appearances for the USMNT, Johnson has a 7–0–3 record.
